Seattle Seahawks
21 votes

Keegan Abdoo: Seahawks 27, Patriots 23

  • Why: The Seahawks win the field-position battle on special teams, and Sam Darnold plays mistake-free football. That's enough to stave off an honorable effort by Drake Maye and the Patriots offense.

Michael Baca: Seahawks 27, Patriots 17

  • Why: Mike Macdonald's defense suffocates Drake Maye and Co., so much so that a defensive player scores a touchdown and wins Super Bowl LX MVP.

Mike Band: Seahawks 31, Patriots 23

  • Why: Seattle's attacking defense manufactures early negative plays to create a double-digit lead. Drake Maye's late surge can't outpace the NFL's most complete roster.

Jeremy Bergman: Seahawks 20, Patriots 15

  • Why: Seattle starts fast with Sam Darnold TD strikes to Brady Russell and Cooper Kupp, and the "Dark Side" D drubs Drake Maye. New England's late scores aren't enough to win this snoozer.

Tom Blair: Seahawks 24, Patriots 21

  • Why: Seattle rides a sophisticated equation to glory: being one of the best teams in the playoffs on offense (first in EPA per play in the postseason among the 14 qualifying teams, per NGS) and defense (third).

David Carr: Seahawks 20, Patriots 17

  • Why: This Patriots team is similar to the one Mike Vrabel helped lead to the franchise's first Super Bowl title in the early 2000s: It plays sound defense, and all three phases do the basics well. New England is definitely going to have a chance, but make no mistake: Seattle is the best team in football, one that's only limited by its QB's turnovers -- and he hasn't had many as of late. Klint Kubiak's offense continues to do what it's done all year long and comes up clutch in the biggest moment to win the franchise's second championship.

Jeffri Chadiha: Seahawks 27, Patriots 20

  • Why: The Seahawks defense takes over in the second half, forcing Patriots quarterback Drake Maye into a couple turnovers and putting the finishing touches on Sam Darnold's resurrection.

Eric Edholm: Seahawks 26, Patriots 19

  • Why: Mike Macdonald’s defense is the story in this one, forcing three Drake Maye turnovers and keeping the star QB mostly in check. Sam Darnold and the run game do just enough to win.

Gennaro Filice: Seahawks 27, Patriots 14

  • Why: Mike Macdonald’s defense shuts New England down, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba lights the Patriots up. But Sam Darnold is the man of the hour, permanently replacing his ghost story with a tale of radical redemption.

Michael Florio: Seahawks 23, Patriots 13

  • Why: Two stud defenses make this a lower-scoring Super Bowl, but JSN breaks out in the second half, catches a late TD and secures the Super Bowl MVP.

Christian Gonzales: Seahawks 27, Patriots 23

  • Why: Seattle’s defense slows down Drake Maye in the second half as Sam Darnold connects with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for two touchdowns to win Super Bowl LX.

Grant Gordon: Seahawks 28, Patriots 24

  • Why:  In an NFL brimming with first-round quarterback resurrection stories -- see Jared Goff, Baker Mayfield, Daniel Jones, etc. -- Sam Darnold will pen the most wondrous tale yet. Darnold will win Super Bowl MVP, but Seattle will prevail when its defense holds strong in a revisionist nod to these franchises’ first rumble for the Lombardi, as the Patriots are stopped on the goal line to end a classic.

Anthony Holzman-Escareno: Seahawks 24, Patriots 17

  • Why: The "Dark Side" has played like Seahawks defenses of Super Bowls past. The unit is close to elite at all three levels. Sam Darnold wins a Super Bowl before draftmates Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen

Dante Koplowitz-Fleming: Seahawks 28, Patriots 24

  • Why: Because Seattle doesn't make the same mistake twice. With the 'Hawks trailing 24-21 with the ball on the 1-yard line and 25 seconds left, Kenneth Walker III gets the handoff, bounces to the outside, reaches for the pylon and scores. A couple minutes later, green-and-blue confetti rains down.

Bobby Kownack: Seahawks 28, Patriots 17

  • Why: Sam Darnold throws four touchdown passes and scores a cameo in the next installation of the Ghostbusters franchise after vanquishing the team that had him seeing spirits back in 2019.

Dan Parr: Seahawks 27, Patriots 20

  • Why: Seattle’s defense and special teams shine in Santa Clara. Sam Darnold avoids catastrophic mistakes, while Nick Emmanwori terrorizes Drake Maye on the way to becoming the first rookie to win Super Bowl MVP.

Kevin Patra: Seahawks 20, Patriots 18

  • Why: The Seahawks defense smothers Drake Maye, and Sam Darnold delivers in the clutch to bring his career full circle, as the former first-round pick hoists the Lombardi Trophy.

Chad Reuter: Seahawks 27, Patriots 23

  • Why: The Seahawks’ stout red-zone defense forces Drake Maye and the Patriots to settle for field goals in the first half, which proves to be the difference.

Marc Ross: Seahawks 35, Patriots 14

  • Why: Seattle overwhelms the Patriots in all three phases. The offense scores three times -- Sam Darnold connects with Jaxon Smith-Njigba twice, and Kenneth Walker III runs one in. The Seahawks also have a defensive score, and Rashid Shaheed returns a kickoff for a touchdown.

Nick Shook: Seahawks 24, Patriots 13

  • Why: New England's magical run falls short of the ultimate triumph, as the Patriots just can't handle the new bully on the block. Mike Macdonald's defense suffocates second-year star Drake Maye and closes the deal with a fourth-quarter takeaway.

Lance Zierlein: Seahawks 24, Patriots 20

  • Why: New England puts up a fight, but Seattle's defense and the Darnold-to-JSN combination are too much for Mike Vrabel and the Patriots to overcome. Darnold becomes the first QB from the 2018 class to win a Super Bowl.
New England Patriots
Three votes

Ali Bhanpuri: Patriots 24, Seahawks 21

  • Why: Say what you want about their respective schedules -- the fact is both teams are extremely well-coached and have pummeled opponents all season along (tied for the league lead with six victories of 17-plus points). So I think the final score will reflect the parity between them, with a late Patriots field goal deciding the winner.

Brooke Cersosimo: Patriots 24, Seahawks 23

  • Why: The Super Bowl has been decided by a field-goal attempt in the final 10 seconds of the game five times in its history, and the Patriots have won two of those five contests -- thanks to Adam Vinatieri (shoutout to my fellow South Dakotan). The sixth instance occurs Sunday as sixth-round rookie Andres Borregales boots a 50-yarder to win it late in regulation.

Matt Okada: Patriots 23, Seahawks 20 (OT)

  • Why: The Seahawks defense is getting all the hype, but the Patriots defense is quietly just as good. Drake Maye narrowly outplays Sam Darnold in an overtime thriller.
