The Baltimore Ravens are breathing a sigh of relief after Lamar Jackson's injury scare on Wednesday.
Jackson left practice early after getting his foot stepped on and wasn't seen at Thursday's session. However, head coach John Harbaugh said after practice that the club held the QB out due to soreness and that Jackson avoided injury.
"He got his foot stepped on like we said yesterday," Harbaugh said. "They did a quick X-ray and there's no damage or anything like that. I'm sure it's a little sore today, so we just kept him in. But he's fine. He's going to be good."
Harbaugh admitted that he exhaled after hearing Jackson escaped unscathed.
"It was a big relief," he said. "I told the guys, I said, 'Prayers do get answered.' Because I was praying. God came through. But he's good."
The two-time NFL MVP is coming off arguably his best season, leading the NFL with a 119.6 passer rating (fourth-highest all-time). He became the first player in league history with 40+ TD passes and fewer than five INTs in a season (41 TDs, four INTs).
While the Ravens inked veteran backup Cooper Rush to provide insurance as a reliable second option behind Jackson, losing Jackson would obviously be a massive dent in Baltimore's Super Bowl aspirations. Luckily, such an injury didn't occur this week.
