The Dolphins found their new offensive coordinator from within their coaching ranks.
Miami is expected to promote senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik to be its next offensive coordinator, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday afternoon.
Slowik, 38, joined the Dolphins in the 2025 offseason after he served the previous two seasons as the Houston Texans offensive coordinator.
During his time as the OC in Houston, Slowik helped Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud to a stellar rookie season in 2023, leading to an AFC South division title, a Divisional Round appearance and an Offensive Rookie of the Year award for Stroud. Slowik called plays for a top-12 overall unit and seventh-ranked passing offense in 2023.
In his second season with the Texans, Slowik's offense took a dip with injuries piling up on the offensive line and inconsistent play from Stroud. Houston dropped to 22nd in total yards per game and 21st in passing, which led to his firing.
New Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley hopes Slowik can bring the same success he saw in Year 1 with Stroud. The Dolphins currently are evaluating the quarterback position after Tua Tagovailoa was benched late in the 2025 season by former head coach Mike McDaniel.
Tagovailoa, who signed a four-year, 212.4 million contract extension in July 2024, could be looking for a fresh start elsewhere with a new regime in Miami.
Rookie Quinn Ewers showed some flashes while starting the last three games of the season, but with a new front office and head coach, the Dolphins could look to add a veteran QB this offseason or select a rookie in the 2026 NFL Draft in April.
Miami has solid a piece for Slowik to scheme around in running back De’Von Achane, who recently earned his first Pro Bowl honor. However, the Dolphins' receiving corps took a step back and has some uncertainties in the wake of Tyreek Hill suffering a season-ending knee injury in September.
